International mime company by Romberg & Wilcox
unspoken theater that will move your mind
MMR -
two mimes on the world stage
MMR
is
a
mime
duo.
So
it
is
more
than
the
sum
of
its
parts.
Both
Eric
Wilcox
and
Jan
Romberg
are
educated
in
classical
pantomime
but
combine
additional
skills
and
styles
-
and
different
cultural
backgrounds.
„MMR“
by
Eric
Wilcox
and
Jan
Romberg
was
found
in
Warsaw
and
resides
in
Theaters
in
Dresden
(
Mimenstudio
)
and
Istanbul
(
Sanat
Odasi
).
The
name
expresses
our
approach
of
pantomime
and
development.
It
is
about
mind,
it
is
using
movement
but
just
to
stimulate
the
imagination.
I
think
therefore I am (a mime).
Their
actual
performance
is
named
"Imagine!
Now!".
A
small
taste
of
it
we
serve
you
on
youtube.
Beside performances MMR runs mime trainings and workshops.
"Imagine! Now!" is wordless theater that let you forget time and space and widens your imagination.
The performance starts with slapstick to break the ice. The actors introduce facets of relationships in
short vignettes – the first are comic but they move to poetic. Also the style of mime acting changes
frequently. From the modern style it switches to the 1900 style of literary pantomime and moves
forward to satirical and even grotesque. The dramatic climax is reached by showing conceptually the
cruelty of war just by light projection on one actor while he projects his thoughts to the audience.
“MMR“ present situations and gestures that are never purely aesthetic but are movement phrases
that pull to an inner authenticity.
for children
“Pronk”
"Pronk" is a wordless and funny performance which is full of action and fantasy. It tells the story of a
young boy, Pronk, who struggles with his adult antagonist. The poor boy does not own anything but has
made a puppet for his own pleasure and in his fantasy the puppet has a special power and is able to
controll other people. Of course he will have some very nice and some very funny but also some
unsatisfying adventures. He finds out how to get free ice cream, how to fly but he also gets the lesson
that getting controlled by others is quite annoying. At the end Pronk and the man spend a peaceful day
at the beach. However, it was so much fun to compete and struggle that they start again.
“Pronk”
is
joyful
to
watch
for
both
children
and
adults.
But
our
young
friends
will
for
sure
more
identify
with the smiling child on stage.
Workshops
Teaching
is
passion
–
our
passion.
We
not
only
love
to
share
our
experiences
and
developments
in
mime
and
physical
theater,
but
combine
that
with
a
long
term
practical
knowledge
in
teaching.
So
mind
movement
research offers some overview and specialized workshops for children and adults.
