The artistic approach

We   are   two.   We   are   not   having   exactly   the   same   style. Indeed   this   makes   it   interesting.   Jan   still   refers   to   the   style of    his    first    mime    teacher    Giselle    Schwenck    that    is    so    far    from arrogance    but    so    full    of    happiness    and    love    to    the    audience.    Eric refers   to   Gregg   Goldston   and   the   American   mime   schools,   and   his experience   in   San   Francisco   with   buffoon/grotesque   theater.   But   this doesn’t   say   that   Jan   is   the   poet   and   Eric   the   nasty   guy   in   this   duet. Often   this   situation   is   reversed.   However,   we   meet   in   the   technique   of mime   in   all   its   large   variety.   All   the   efforts   made   in   America,   Europe and Asia Minor we take and use. At their most essential the concepts of contemporary mime are: reflection,   identification,   compression   of   time   and   space,   to   express thoughts   and   to   exploit   the   imagination   of   the   audience.   But   we   do not   just   do   anything   and   hope   that   people   will   be   enter-tained.         We work   carefully   to   achieve   a   pre-verbal   shared   cultural   space   and   show them our world.
