history of pantomime - a very short introduction

The  historical  and  current developments  of  pantomime  in  other countries than Greece, Italy, France, Great Britain,  Germany  and  Poland  are  less perceived and literature is almost available only  in  their  native  languages.  Evaluating our increasing source material is therefore difficult. The   origins   of   pantomime   are   rooted   in   the      ancient      Greece.      The      earliest     big   stars   are   Pylades   and   Bathyllus   in   the   ancient   Rome.   Therefore,      it      is difficult      to      write      down      a      reasonable   overview      in      some      words.      Many      arts     are linked with pantomime. A      couple      of      arts      are      inspired      from   pantomime      and      some      inspired      the pantomime   then   again.   The   connections   to   Commedia      dell´arte      and      silent     film      are   generally      known.      But      also      artistry,   clownery      and      the      horse     shows      Have   several   historical      connections      to      our      art.   There      are      close     related  arts  like breakdancing and dance theater. Classical      pantomime      art      is      today   understood   as   the   technique   introduced by    Jacques    Copeau,        Etienne    Decroux,    Marcel    Marceau    and    Jean    Louis Barrault.   And   also   this      coryphae      had      have      inspirations.      For   example   the character   Bip   of   Marceau   can   be      seen      as      a      reincarnation      of      the      Pierrot   of     Deburau.      Other      great      masters      like   Charlie      Chaplin      belong      to      the      classics, whose  proficiency  is  a  duty  to  study  for each  pantomime. Modern      pantomime   although   accesses      these      techniques,      but      widening their   basis   within      techniques      to   represent   past      or      means      like      Tomaszewski     has   developed   and   it   must   adapt   to   the   viewing   habits      changed      by      film      and     television.      To   imitate      a      camera      pan      and      zoom      without   any      technical      aids     but      only      using      the   imagination   in   the   mind   of   the   spectator   is   hard      and     mimes  are  trying  this  all  over world.
